Location

The cottage is located just outside the hamlet of Hulme End, near Hartington.  A few minutes walk takes you down to the popular local public house, the Manifold Inn.  There is also a cafe and a Visitor Centre at the old railway station, which is the start of the Manifold Trail.

Hulme End is situated at a midpoint between Ashbourne, Buxton and Leek. It is the start of the Manifold trail, a nine mile former railway line that used to link Hulme End and Waterhouses and which is very popular with walkers and cyclists. This valley, with the River Manifold flowing through it, is designated as an area of outstanding beauty.

Just nearby are the Tissington Trail, Beresford Dale, Wolfscote Dale, Milldale, Dovedale and many other areas popular for walking or cycling.

Around Hulme End are a number of other charming small villages, such as Hartington, Butterton, Wetton, and Alstonefield.

From Hulme End you can explore the beauties of the White Peak Area, the Dark Peak Area and the Staffordshire Moorlands. There are historic towns to visit, such as Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock and Ashbourne and there are popular attractions such as Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Eyam (the famous Plague village), Crich (the Tram museum), and many others.
